A/AA Status
Newly qualified PGA Professionals are granted Class ‘A’ status on qualification of the relevant Training Programme. After an initial three year period as a member, a Professional with 100 CPD points is granted Class ‘AA’ status. 'AA' status identifies a PGA professional who has undertaken the minimum amount of Further Education recognised by the PGA. AA status is retained each year as long as a PGA Professional maintains the minimum requirement of 100 points in a three year period. Those professionals who don't, are given 'A' status, until such time as they meet the minimum requirements in the future. A PGA Profesional's CPD record will identify the amount of Further Education they have undertaken, and the type of Further Education, such as subject areas, course length, etc. (updated in April 2011)

Membership Categories
Furthermore, The Association also recognises the success, experience and personal & professional development of its Members through the membership categories that it bestows upon them. A Member must submit a portfolio of their achievements (see APAL for more details) and they are then awarded one of four titles, with the accolade of PGA Master Professional being reserved for only the rare few who lead the field in their profession.

Members who reach the designation of PGA Advanced Fellow Professional & PGA Master Professional are given 'AA' status as recognition of their continued dedication to personal & professional development over an extensive period of time.

Accreditation of Prior Achievement & Learning (APAL)
The PGA recognises that a certain amount of expertise is learnt ‘on the job’ and that PGA Professionals will have had a wide range of learning experiences during their career. Through the APAL scheme, PGA Professionals can gain credit for their prior achievements and experience. For further information on the APAL process, click here.
